Fishing District - Sava Bohinjka Angling

Fishing season: from 1.4. do 30.11.

Description of boundaries: The Sava Bohinjka River from the road bridge under Bohinjska Bistrica to the dam in Soteska with its tributaries.

Permitted to fish within: The Sava Bohinjka River from the road bridge under Bohinjska Bistrica to the dam in Soteska:

- Catch and release part: from the railway bridge in Bitnje to the first road bridge over the Soteska,

- Catch and take part: from the road bridge in front of Bohinjska Bistrica to the railway bridge in Bitnje and from the first road bridge over the Soteska to the dam in Soteska.

Permitted fishing methods:

- Fly fishing - fishing with a fly rod and one artificial fly and single barbless hook,

- The Danube salmon fishing with fly fishing, spinning with the use of artificial lure. The minimum length of the lure is 10 cm. The use of a single hook is mandatory. Each catch the Danube salmon must be reported to the river keeper.

Permitted daily catch: 3 salmonids, of which only 1 grayling. Only one salmonid over 50 cm and 1 Danube salmon with a special fishing license. Brown trout harwesting is not allowed. After harvesting the 3rd fish (daily limit is reached) fishing is not allowed anymore.

The minimum fish length and fishing season:

- Grayling 40 cm, from 1.6. to 30.11.

- Brown trout harvesting is not allowed!

- Rainbow trout with no minimum length, from 1.4. to 30.11.

- Danube salmon 90 cm, from 1.12. to 14.2. (Special license).

Type of fishing licenses: Fishing licenses are for 1 day, for 3 days, for 7 consecutive days ‘all catch and release’ districts, and annual fishing licenses for members and non-members of RZS. Fishing the Danube salmon is subject to specific daily fishing license.

Fishing for Danube salmon / Hunchen

Permitted fishing method: fly fishing or spinning, minimum length of lure is 10 cm, the exclusive use of single hooks.

Terms of/for fishing: Anglers and co-fisherman. Every angler has to return the fishing license to the seller of the licenses after fishing. If this is not done, the next time a license will not be sold to him.

The angler is obliged to show every caught Danube salmon to the fishing monitor or dealer where he purchased a fishing license. The river keeper or the seller of fishing licenses accurately weigh and measure the catch and record the data in the logbook.

Fishing species in Sava Bohinjka
