Obrh fish farm, Vrhnika pri Ložu 6, 1386 Stari trg pri Ložu, tel: 0038617071460
The Obrh fish farm was built along the Obrh stream in 1935 to produce brown trout eggs. At that time aquaculture was also involved in the hunting of crustaceans and the fishing of juvenile pike in Cerknica Lake.
Today, the fish farm is our largest breeding facility for native salmonid fish species.

We farm the following species of fish
- Huchen - is the largest salmonid of the Danube basin. Eggs are obtained from specimens from the rivers Kolpa, Sora and Sava Bohinjka. Further cultivation takes place in the fish farm, where one, two and three year old hatchlings are grown from eggs. The latter reach weights up to 1 kg and sizes up to 50 cm or more.
- Grayling - eggs are obtained from wild specimens in the streams Obrh, Unica, Sava Bohinjka and Lake Crnava. Further cultivation takes place in the farm up to one, two or more years old grayling.
- Brown trout - we obtain eggs from our own breeding flock and breed them in the fish farm to the offspring or to one and two year old fry. Part of the embryo is invested in the brooks, where a sustainable breeding of the young is done.
