Socio-economic Data on Marine Fisheries

The Institute has performed the task since 2008, when we collected socio-economic data on Slovenian marine fisheries for 2007.

The data, which is linked to each fishing vessel, enables an assessment of the socio-economic status in the marine fisheries. The data is a basis for adopting measures which are in favor of sustainable development of angling areas and benefit the Slovenian fisheries sector and Slovenian fishermen.

The main data sources are:

  • Information system "InfoRib”;
  • Questionnaires; and
  • Collection/register of financial data FI-PO AJPES (Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Public Legal Records and Related Services).

Legal basis: : Marine Fishing Act (Official Gazette of the RS, no. 115/2006); Council Regulation (EC) no. 199/2008 (OJ of the EU 60, 5.3.2008); 2008/949/EC: Commission Decision of 6 November 2008 (OJ of the EU 346, 23.12.2008).

Socio-economic Data for Mariculture

The Institute has performed the task since 2009, when we collected the socio-economic data on Slovenian mariculture for 2008.

The data which is related to individual entities engaged in mariculture, enables the assessment of the socio-economic situation in the sector. The data is the basis for adopting measures which are in favor of sustainable development of fishing areas and benefit Slovene mariculture.

The main data sources are:

Legal basis: Marine Fishing Act (Official Gazette of the RS, no. 115/2006); Council Regulation (EC) no. 199/2008 (OJ of the EU 60, 5.3.2008); 2008/949/EC: Commission Decision of 6 November 2008 (OJ of the EU 346, 23.12.2008).

Socio-economic data from the Fisheries Processing Industry

The Institute is has performed the task since 2008, when we collected socio-economic data on the Slovenian fisheries processing industry for 2007.

The data which is related to individual entities engaged in the processing of fishery products, enables the assessment of the socio-economic situation in the sector. The data is the basis for adopting measures which are in favor of sustainable development of angling areas and benefit the Slovenian fisheries sector and fisheries processing industry.

The main data sources are:

  • Veterinary Administration of the Republic of Slovenia (VURS);
  • Questionnaires; and
  • Collection/records of financial data FI-PO AJPES (Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Public Legal Records and Related Services).
