Monitoring Fishing Sources with a Demersal Trawl

Monitoring of fishery resources with the demersal trawl is biological research which has been taking place in Slovenian sea since 1995. Sampling is carried out with a rented fishing vessel which performs (four times a year) standardized fishing with the demersal trawl on three, systematically defined stations in the Slovenian Adriatic sea.

The sampling is performed in cooperation with the fishing vessel crew and experts from the Institute. Biological material is processed on the deck of the vessel and in the laboratory. The data is entered into standardized forms and then transferred to the database.
