The National Program on Fish Management mainly
determines long-term guidelines for: fisheries; defines goals, tasks, and
measures; and the required public financial resources.
The program consists of:
- assessment of the current conditions,
- goals and guidelines for the protection and
sustainable use of fish,
- tasks and measures for achieving goals of fish
management,
- the evaluation of expected effects and required
public-financial resources for achieving goals, and
- measures for preserving favorable conditions of
endangered fish in accordance with the regulations on the preservation of nature.
The
National Program also defines the competent
authorities of specific tasks. The National Program has been, on the basis of
proposal of the Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Food, adopted by the

of Slovenia for the period
of 12 years.

The legal basis for the National Program on Fish
Management in Slovenia
is article 10. of the Freshwater
Fishing Act (Official Gazette of the RS, no. 61/2006) in which it
is defined that the national program has to determine the long-term guidelines
for fish management at the national level.
