The Fisheries Research Institute of
Slovenia (FRIS) actively cooperates in preparation of the legislation in the
area of freshwater fishing. The Freshwater Fishing Act (Official Gazette of the
RS, no. 61/2006), which regulates the management of fishing sources in inland
waters, was adopted in 2006. Preparation and adoption of secondary legislation
is underway.
The FRIS participated in preparation of
the Sectoral Act on Freshwater Fishing, which was prepared by the Ministry for
Agriculture, Forestry and Food.
The
preparation and adoption of secondary legislation is underway, some of them are
already adopted and published in the Official Gazette.

Basic Regulations for Freshwater Fishing |
|
The Freshwater Fishing Act is the basic regulation for freshwater fisheries,
and it regulates:
- planning in the area of fish management,
- determination/designation of spatial units,
- determination of rules for sustainable use of
fish,
- tasks related to preservation of the favourable condition
of fish and achieving good ecological conditions,
- awarding concessions for fish management in
fishing districts,
- fishing in commercial ponds,
- breeding fish,
- records in freshwater fisheries and reporting,
- expert training for the performers of fisheries
management,
- damages and compensation due to perishing of
fish,
- fish Rangers service,
- public
services, and
- the
like, with freshwater fisheries-related questions.

Inland Waters
