A component part of the fish cadastre is
also GIS (Geographic Information System)
applications, which make possible analysis and preparation of different expert
bases for basic geo-positioning data.
In the frame of preparing regulations in
the area of freshwater fishing were, as supplements, made the following digital
layers:
- Fishing areas,
- Fishing territories,
- Fishing districts and method of carrying out of
fishing management in them
- Waters of special significance.
The next digital layers that are still in
preparation:
- Fish farms,
- Commercial ponds, and
- Spawning grounds of individual fish species.
For the preparation of the detailed plans
and planning documents on national and local level, different sectoral digital
layers are made.

The legal grounds are
in the Decree on Setting the Borders of Fishing Areas and Territories in the
Republic of Slovenia (Official Gazette of the RS, no. 52/2007) in Decree on
Setting the Borders of the Waters of Special Significance and the Manner of
Managing Them (Official Gazette of the RS no. 52/2007).
