Fishing cadastre is a data collection
which holds the records from freshwater fisheries.
The fishing cadastre was established with
the Freshwater Fishing Act in 1976. Its management was taken over by then
called Institute for Fishery Ljubljana. At the beginning it was a dossier of
all fishing territories in which the data in individual fishing territories and
fishing families to which the carrying out of fishing management was entrusted,
species of fish, the manner of fishing management, vlaganja rib, fishing, and
other data important for fishing was collected.
The fishing cadastre encompasses:
- Records and data on fishing areas, territories,
and districts, and non-inclusive waters and on implementation of fish
management in them,
- Records and data on the condition of the fish
population, and
- Other
important data, which are the basis for fishery planning, preparation of
different expert groundwork, opinions, measures and regulations in the
area of freshwater fishing, with which
the preservation and sustainable use of fishing sources is provided.

With the development of information
technology, the computer management of fishing cadastre data began at the
beginning of 1990s.
The internet application for management
of the fishing cadastre, which will enable interactive input and review of
data, is underway.
This
type of work should be possible in 2008.
