Fishery Management Plan

In making a fishery management plan, the ecological properties and the widespread nature of fish species or populations which are important for preserving favorable conditions and regimes on the preservation of nature and waters which could influence the performance of the fish breeding plan, are considered.

The Fishery Management Plan includes the information on:

  • assessment of the state and impact on the fishing area,
  • performers of fishery management,
  • analysis of fishery management for the previous period,
  • areas which are protected under the regulation on protection of nature,
  • putting in order fishing districts and their intended purpose,
  • fish stockings, fish farming that respects nature and fish breeding in controlled conditions in fish farms,
  • fishing regimes,
  • the number of fishing days and quantity of the catch of the fish,
  • genetic Material from designated fish reservations and egg and sperm harvesting,
  • fishing competitions and competition areas, and
  • furthermore, the important aspects for fisheries management.

The draft of the Fisheries Management Plan for the period of six years for each individual fishing area on the basis of plan from the above article of the Freshwater Fishing Act is made by the Institute on the basis of the opinion from the performer of the fish management and of the local community.

The Fish Breeding Plan is, on the proposal from the Fisheries Research Institute of Slovenia, adopted by the Minister in agreement with the Minister responsible for preservation of nature and Minister responsible for waters.

Legal Grounds

The legal basis for fishing districts plan is article 12. of the Freshwater Fishing Act (Official Gazette of the RS, no. 61/2006), which defines that the plan is the expert grounds for fishery management of each fishing district.

Vodenje ribiškega katastra je ključnega pomena za načrtovanje in izvajanje ribiškega upravljanja ter pripravo različnih strokovnih podlag in mnenj, ukrepov ter predpisov na področju sladkovodnega ribištva, s katerimi se zagotavlja ohranjanje in trajnostna raba ribolovnih virov, določanje elementov ekološkega stanja voda in določanje ukrepov za njihovo izboljšanje.
