The Soča
fish farm was built in 1936 by Italians as a compensation for the damage they
caused to fish with the construction of hydroelectric plant on the Soča
river.
The fish farm has spring water from the Koren and Frandolič springs.

In the Soča fish farm we breed the
following fish species:
- Marble Trout (salmo marmoratus) - in
year 1985 we obtained roe for the first time from Soča Trout from the pure bred
breeds bred in the fish farm, which represented the basis for the preparation
of the repopulation program of the endangered Soča Trout. A big step was also
made by the discovery of the genetically pure population of Soča Trout in
Zadlaščica and Predilca. Since then, we obtain from the pure bred in the
fishery sufficient quantity of roe every year, and from it we breed all
categories of fish - from the offspring to the adult fish. Most of them are
inserted in the waters of upper Posočje, but some of the are also sold to the
fishing clubs in Posočje.
- Rainbow Trout - we beed it for the needs
of supplementary depositing into sport-fishing districts and for consuming. We
have our own pure bred jato for fish breeding of consumable size for the sale
at the local market. From roe of a
sterile Rainbow Trout we breed sterile Rainbow Trout of all sizes, also up to 5
kg in weight and 80cm in size.
